STATES OF MATTER

Matter is made up of small particles called atoms and molecules. As we already know, matter can be classified into three main states: solid, liquid and gas.

Task 1.- BRIEF REDACTION

Make groups of two and explain which are the most important features of each aggregation state. You can take help of the following link:

STATES OF MATTER

Your redaction must have between 60 and 90 words. All redactions will be read loud in class and some concepts can also be discussed among your partners and you.

Take a look at the next flash file:

Task 2.- MATCH

Match the words into the number 1 group with the words into the number 2 group:

NUMBER 1 GROUP: solid, liquid, gas

NUMBER 2 GROUP: vibration, far apart, keep volume, random motion, flow, close together, melting point, boiling point

kinetic energy, translation, keep shape

Task 3.- PROJECT

We’ve just learned about states of matter and changes of state. Now, let's do the next:

• The class will be divided into groups of four persons.

• Each group will draw a poster which can expose the following concepts:
molecular motion, changes of state points, increasing and decreasing temperature, names of changes of state...

The poster should be made in colors. The best works will be hung in class.
